Welcome to Colourfully Black

​

Colourfully Black was born from love, creativity and a belief that Black children deserve to feel seen, valued and celebrated.

​

The journey began while I was searching for party invitations for my daughter’s birthday. Like any parent, I wanted something special, something that

reflected her joy, her beauty and her individuality.

​

But as I searched through shops and websites, I struggled to find anything that truly represented her as a Black child.​ Popular children’s themes, princesses, superheroes, animals and cartoons rarely featured Black children. There was little that reflected her skin, her hair or children who looked like her. What should have been an exciting part of planning her birthday instead highlighted just how underrepresented Black children were in everyday products created to celebrate them.​ 

So, I created what was missing.

What began with a birthday invitation became Colourfully Black, a growing collection of products designed to represent, uplift and celebrate Black children.

I started by creating invitations featuring Black children in joyful and imaginative ways. Since then, the collection has grown to include birthday cards and empowerment journals, each created with the same purpose at its heart.

Our products are designed to reflect Black children positively, to encourage confidence and self-love and celebrate the beauty and individuality of who they are. We believe that very child deserves to see themselves reflected in the things that bring them joy and to know that they are worthy of being celebrated just as they are.
